“Blessed are you when people insult you…” (Matthew5:11); “Never pay back evil for evil to anyone…” (Romans 12:17); “Do not beovercome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).
Even in the best of circumstances, within Christian familiesand wonderful churches, there are acquaintances and even family members who, thoughthey may not necessarily do evil against you, are still very unfriendly,  rude and disrespectful to you.
This happens to many and yes, it is very hurtful and sad, evento those who are mature in their walk with God.
What to do?
Continue to live out the life of Christ in obedience to theWord of God. For example, in Colossians 3 it instructs followers of Christ toput on a heart of compassion, kindness and humility.
This should describe our relationship with everyone. Eventhough you may not be experiencing this from some of your family members andacquaintances, never return with rudeness, disrespect or unkindness.
By the way, if being in their presence troubles them, thenout of respect, you might continue to pray for them, but choose to stay away. Irealize you cannot do this in every situation, but if there is a specialfunction, birthday or family gathering where you presence would cause others tobe uncomfortable, then ask the Lord to make it possible for you not to attend, simplyto pray and stay away!
